BENNINGTON -- Walter Raymond Sausville, 64, a resident of Anthony Drive died unexpectedly Saturday, April 7, 2007, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.

Mr. Sausville was born in Bennington on May 8, 1942. He was the son of the late Raymond Sausville and Helen (Lukas) Sausville who survives. Mr. Sausville grew up in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., where he attended St. Mary’s Academy, graduating in 1960. Following high school he relocated to Connecticut where he began a lifelong career with American Airlines, he later moved to Rochester, N.Y., and retired from American Airlines four years ago after 30 years with the company and relocated to Bennington in 2005. He had been a communicant of The Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls and thoroughly enjoyed the out of doors, especially hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He had recently traveled with his friends to the Glastonbury fire tower, one of his favorite places to ride. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 13 where he enjoyed playing cards.

Mr. Sausville leaves his mother, Helen Sausville, of Bennington; two sons, Michael Sausville of Enfield, Conn., and Adam Sausville of Rochester, N.Y.; and his former wife, Doris Sherwood, of Rochester, N.Y. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his first wife, Gail (Micha) Sausville.

Catholic funeral services will be held at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home in Bennington on Tuesday, April 10, at 2 p.m., burial will take place in the Sausville family lot in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. There are no calling hours.
