MANCHESTER/WALLINGFORD -- Warren W. Markey, 82, a resident of Manchester and Wallingford, died on Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at the Orchard Nursing Home in Granville, N.Y. He was born in Manchester on May 15, 1922, the son of Cozac and Mary (Bushee) Markey. He grew up in Manchester and attended local schools. Warren proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Warren worked for many years at the Wilcox family farm in Manchester. He lived in Wallingford for the past 25 years. Warren enjoyed the sport of harness racing. He owned several horses and was well known in the East Coast racing circuit. He was a member of Saint Paul’s Church in Manchester. Warren enjoyed his life. His family and friends will miss him dearly.

He is survived by his companion Elsie Jackson of Salem, N.Y.; his nieces and nephews, Nancy DeCastro, Diane Scott, Claire Scott, Suzanne Ruk, Marcia Robair, Mark Scott and Gerald, Ronald and Howard Wilcox.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 16, 2005, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Saint Paul’s Church in Manchester. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. A graveside service of committal will follow in the Factory Point Cemetery in Manchester. The Rev. John Whalen will officiate.
