Obituary Condolences

ROTTERDAM, N.Y. -- Wayne C. Burton, 38, of Priscilla Lane, died Monday at Ellis Hospital after a courageous battle with leukemia.

Born in Norwich, N.Y., Wayne graduated from Schoharie Central schools, he then graduated from SUNY New Paltz where he received his bachelor of arts degree in psychology. He then received his master’s degree from the college of St. Rose with his degree in special education.

Wayne was a special education teacher for more than 12 years at Parson’s Family & Child in Albany.

While at SUNY New Paltz, Wayne was a member of Sigma Beta Chi Fraternity. Wayne loved the outdoors where his interests included tennis, kayaking, rollerblading and cross-country skiing.

Survivors include his wife, Melissa Briggs Burton; father, Warren C. Burton of Gallupville; mother, Doreen Cooper Bourdon of Bennington, Vt.; maternal grandmother, Thelma Cooper of Bennington, Vt.; two brothers; Terry Burton of Schoharie and Eric Bourdon of Bennington. Wayne is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces and a nephew.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam.

Calling hours, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be held Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
