Obituary Condolences

Willard E. Metcalfe BENNINGTON Willard E. Metcalfe, 77, died August 18 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center surrounded by his five sons. Dad was the first born child of Alexander and Thelma Metcalfe of Hoosick Falls, N.Y. Dad lived with his 10 brothers and sisters. He attended Hoosick Falls High School. He left high school to get a job and help support his family. In 1952 Dad married our mother, Janice Robinson. Five sons later Dad had what he was certainly most proud of "His Boys". Doesn't make a lick of difference we (the sons) are all around 50 we are still "The Boys". Dad worked a job that he loved at the Old Polygraphic Printing Company. As a pressman he was able to treat us to beautiful books that he printed. When the "shop" closed Dad went to work with Wynn's Lawn Care. He and his daughter in-law, Sue, worked the business together. Dad was also married to a wonderful lady, Shirley Chenaille, a marriage that we were all thankful for. Dad enjoyed family. Trips to Plymouth were certainly a great time for him. He also enjoyed deer hunting at the Dew Drop Inn in Pittsford, Vt. We were never really sure if he brought his gun. He certainly had no problem taking the money at the poker table. Dad leaves his boys, Wynn and Sue Metcalfe of Shaftsbury, Peter and Jean Metcalfe of Pownal, Brent and Suzanne Metcalfe of Plymouth, Mass., Jeff and Deb Metcalfe of Plymouth, Mass., and Willard and Michelle Metcalfe of Bellows Falls. Dad also has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who knew him as Papa.
