BENNINGTON -- William A. Knapp, 92, died on Tuesday morning, Feb. 17, 2004 at Crescent Manor Care Centers in Bennington, where by had made his home for the past several years.

Mr. Knapp was born on March 1, 1911 in Arlington, the son of Arthur and Elsie (Mitchell) Knapp. He attended the one-room school known as the Sandbank School in Arlington.

Throughout his lifetime, Mr. Knapp had resided in Arlington and Bennington and had worked on his brother Keynith’s farm in Arlington and as a maintenance person in several factories in the Bennington area including Bennington Brush.

Mr. Knapp is survived by two nephews Neil Knapp of Arlington and Alan Knapp of DeKalb Junction, N.Y.; two nieces Shirley Jablonski of Guilderland, N.Y. and Phyllis Sweely residing in Oregon; and several great-nieces, nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a brother Keynith Knapp, two sisters Gladys Griffin and Hazel Knapp and a niece Kathleen Houghton.

The liturgy of Christian burial will be offered for Mr. Knapp on Friday, Feb. 20 at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary’s Church in Arlington with the Rev. George H. Dupuis, pastor, officiating. Entombment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery Vault with spring interment to take place at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery, Arlington. There are no calling hours planned.
