Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- William R. Billert, 69, a former resident of Elm Street, Bennington, died Monday, April 9, 2007, at the Vermont Veterans Home following a long illness.

Born in Bennington November 19, 1937, he was the son of the late William and Anna (Kelley) Billert. He received his education in the local schools and was a 1955 graduate of the former Bennington High School.

In earlier years Bill was employed at Bijur Lubricating Company, Green Mountain Racetrack and the Vermont Veterans Home.

Bill was a member of Bennington Elks Lodge 567. He enjoyed hunting and bowling.

Survivors include two sisters, Marie Beckoff of Centerville, Mass., and Norma Lourie of West Rupert; two brothers, John E. Billert on Bennington and James E. Billert of Hoosick Falls, N.Y.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Wilson.

The funeral will be held form All Faiths Chapel at the Vermont Veterans Home on Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Michael A. Demasi officiating.

Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.

Burial will take place at the Vermont Veterans War Memorial Cemetery in Bennington.

Should friends desire, contributions in William R. Billert’s memory may be made to the Activities Fund at the Vermont Veterans Home through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.

All members of Bennington Elks Lodge 567 are asked to meet at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. to conduct services in memory of Bill Billert.
