LONDONDERRY -- William “Willie” Burnett, 85, died on Tuesday night, April 26, 2005, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. He was born in Cambridge, Mass. Nov. 29, 1919, the son of James and Elizabeth (Booth) Burnett. Willie grew up in Williamstown, Mass. and graduated from Williamstown High, class of 1937. He worked for many years as a baker in the family bakery in Williamstown. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. In the Army, he was attached to the quartermaster corps. He served in Normandy, North France, Rhineland and Central Europe. From 1965 till 1991, he worked for the Bromley Mountain Resort. He was in the ski patrol then was the ski patrol director, then personnel director and retired as the director of administration. His family and many friends will deeply miss him.

He is survived by his sisters, Jean B. Potter of North Guilford, Conn. and Margaret B. Leete of Williamstown and his nephews, Charles Potter, James Potter, David Leete and William Leete.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2005 at the Londonderry Congregational Church. Following the service, all are invited for a time of fellowship and refreshment in the church vestry.

Williams cremated remains will be committed to the earth in the Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown.
