Obituary Condolences

BONDVILLE -- William E. Bourque Sr., 81, of Bondville, died March 1, 2007, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born Aug. 23, 1925, in Springfield, Mass., and was the son of Louis and Clara (Cahill) Bourque, and lived in Longmeadow, Mass., for many years. Bill spent three years in the Navy during WWII serving in the South Pacific on a repair ship. His three year apprenticeship at General Electric led him from Hamilton Standard and Kollmorgen to manager of manufacturing at Veeder-Root in Hartford, Conn., and Altoona, Pa. He retired from Stanley Tools in Shaftsbury in 1986.

Bill and his family moved to Bondville in 1973 and enjoyed skiing at Stratton and Magic Mountains as well as skiing in Europe and out west. His love of cars and boating included restoring a 1929 Packard Phaeton, a 1936 Auburn Speedster, a 1925 Buick Roadster and a 1947 Chris craft wooden boat. His love of travel took him to Europe many times and to the Caribbean with his extended family for sailing and snorkeling, but home was where his heart was and he loved his vegetable garden.

He was predeceased by his granddaughter Cary Ann Bourque. He is survived by Joan, his wife of 54 years; his sister, Helen, and Ray Carol, of Weaverville, N.C.; his son, William and his wife, Amanda, of Andover; his son James and Gail Bourque of East Dover; his son George of East Rupert; daughter Anne and Andy Miller of Greenwich, Conn.; his grandchildren Julia, Maddie and Katie Bourque, William and James Bourque, Tyler, Ashley, Tori and George Bourque and David, Joey and George Miller.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at 12 p.m. at the Chapel of the Snows on Stratton Mountain. Burial will be in the spring in Bondville Cemetery. Friends may call at the Brewster Funeral Home 34 Park Place Manchester, on Monday, March 5, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.
