Obituary Condolences

HEBRON, N.Y. -- William D. Wood, 64, of Hebron, passed away suddenly Monday, July 9, 2007, at Glens Falls Hospital. Bill was born June 1, 1943, in the town of Hebron, the son of the late Edmund Wood Sr., and Bernace Priest Wood. He graduated from Salem Washington Academy. He enlisted in the Army in 1965 and served during the Vietnam era. Bill earned the Aircraft Crewman Badge, the National Defense Service Medal and was a Marksman with M-14. Bill worked for the Telescope Company in Granville for over 30 years and following retirement he worked for the Washington County Head Start in Granville until June of 2006 after seven years of service. Bill enjoyed hunting, especially deer and turkey, he enjoyed motorcycle riding, he bought and restored antique tractors.

He was a member of the East Hebron United Presbyterian Church, a member of the Modern Woodsmen of America in Wells, Vt., and a member of the Granville American Legion.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Vona Saunders Wood, whom he married May 10, 1967; his son, Lawrence L. Wood and his wife Gloria of Hebron and a daughter, Sandra Todd and her companion James Pelletier of Hebron. He is also survived by three brothers, Donald Wood and his wife Joyce, of Pawlet, Vt., Edmund Wood Jr. and his wife Linda, of Fort Edward, Gary Wood of Middletown Springs, Vt.; a sister Sharon Waite and her husband Michael of Salem; and four grandchildren. He is also survived by a special niece and her husband and their children, all of Hebron.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 13, 2007, at 1 p.m. at the McClellan Funeral Home, 19 East Broadway, Salem with the Rev. Mary Beth Hutchinson officiating. Interment with military honors will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Salem.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.
