Obituary Condolences

STAMFORD -- William David “Bottle Bill” Bopp, 88, of Sparrow Drive and a longtime resident of Pownal, died Sunday June 26, 2005, at the Sweet Brook Heath Care Centers in Williamstown, Mass.

He was born in Schenectady, N.Y., on Feb. 3, 1916, a son of the late William Peter Bopp and Louise Caroline (Smith) Bopp. He attended schools in Schenectady.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre as a private first class.

He was employed for most of his life as a custodian at the General Electric Co. in Schenectady.

In 1975 Mr. Bopp moved to Pownal to live with the Parizo family and later moved to Stamford to live with the Parizo and Smith family.

He was a member of the Pownal American Legion Post No. 90.

Survivors include two sisters, Margaret Luther of Schenectady, Kate Shaw of Atlanta, Ga.; his friends and adopted family, Evelyn Parizo, Mari Parizo and her children Christopher Drayton, Kevin Drayton and Marc Drayton, Kristine Roy and her child Morgan Roy, Alison Parizo and her husband Don, LauraLee Smith and her husband Scott and their children Robbie Smith, Chase Smith, Nick Smith, Derek Smith and Brittany Smith.

Graveside services for William David “Bottle Bill” Bopp will take place Thursday at 11 a.m. at the family plot in Parklawn Cemetery, Bennington. Calling hours at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, Mass. are Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.

A reception will follow at the home of Mari Parizo on Route 346 Pownal.
