William G. Vose

1940-2014 BENNINGTON William G. Vose, 73, a longtime resident of Silk Road died unexpectedly Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. He was born in Bennington, VT on August 7, 1940. He was the son of the late William M. Vose and Dorothy "Dot" (Jordan) Vose. Bill received his education in Bennington and was a 1959 graduate of Bennington Catholic High School. Following high school Bill served in the Vermont National Guard. In earlier years Bill was employed at Economy Graphics. When the business closed he went to work for Dave Moriarty where he did concrete work. He later worked at Tansitor Electronics from which he retired. Bill enjoyed traveling and in his retirement he converted a mini bus into a travel trailer and drove throughout the country. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hiking, playing cribbage, watching football and talking politics. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. He especially enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren. He is survived by his best friend, Ginger Baker, his children, Lynn, of Fort Edward, NY, and his son, Tsion (Billy) and daughter-in-law, Stephanie, of Bennington, seven grandchildren and three great grandchilddren, and a sister, Gail Harbour and her husband Gary, of Bennington. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins and other loved ones and friends. He was pre-deceased by a sister Eva Jacobsen. The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Monday February 17, 2014 at 9:15 a.m with a prayer and then from Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington at 10 a.m. where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. The burial will follow in the family lot in Saint John's Cemetery in North Bennington. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Sunday, February 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. If desired, contributions in memory of William G. Vose may be made to either Harvest Christian Ministries Soup Kitchen, HIS Pantry at Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church, or the Bennington Eagles Club for the Thanksgiving Dinner, through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
