BENNINGTON -- Mr. William H. Armstrong Jr., 65, a resident of Maple Street, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004 at his home.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Jan. 13, 1939 he was the son of William H. and Georgia M. (Burns) Armstrong Sr.

He had attended schools in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, Bennington High School for one year, and then Wilmington High School, graduating with the Class of 1957. For many years he had worked as a machinist at G.S. Precision in Wilmington and Brattleboro. Upon returning to Bennington he was self-employed.

He was a former member of the Wilmington Fire Department. He had been a mason for many years, first with Social Lodge in Wilmington and then Mt. Anthony Lodge in Bennington.

He leaves his son, William H. Armstrong II of West Dover; a daughter, Victoria Helen of Brattleboro; two brothers, John L. Armstrong of Montpelier and R. Russell Armstrong of Milton; two sisters, Georgia A. Davis of Bennington and Jacqueline L. Martin of Danby and Port Charlotte, Fla., as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held in the spring and will be announced at that time. Interment will take place in the Armstrong family lot in Towslee Cemetery in Pownal.
