NORTH PETERSBURGH, N.Y. -- William H. Wade Jr., 85, died Sunday, Sept. 28 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vt. He resided in North Petersburgh with his wife, Shirley L. (Muncy) Wade.

He was born June 15, 1918 in Amityville, son of the late William H. and Selina (Haff) Wade Sr.

William was educated at Farmingdale High School on Long Island and the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, where he received a degree as a mechanical engineer. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II and worked at the Watervliet Arsenal as an inspector.

William and his family moved to the Petersburgh area in 1957. He sold RVs at the family business on Route 346 and farmed the family farm in North Petersburgh. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying maple-sugaring, cutting wood, hunting and various outdoor activities. William attended the North Petersburgh United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; a daughter, Kathleen Miller of Schenectady; a son, William S. Wade of Petersburgh; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by two brothers.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 2 at 11 a.m. from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main St. in Hoosick Falls. Burial will follow the service at Hoosick Rural Cemetery in Hoosick.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Thursday morning from 9 a.m. until the start of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the North Petersburgh United Methodist Chapel, Petersburgh Rescue Squad, Heart Fund or the Cancer Fund through the funeral home.
