William J. Greenwood Jr. 1926 - 2008 Hoosick Falls, N.Y. William J. Bill "Bud" Greenwood Jr. 82, died Friday Dec. 5, at his residence after a long illness surrounded by his loving family. He resided on Rensselaer Street with his wife of 53 years Eleanor Couch Greenwood. Bill was born on Oct. 24, 1926 in Hoosick Falls, son of William J. and Louise Boylan Greenwood. He attended St. Mary's Academy until being called to serve his country during World War II in the Navy. Bill received his high school diploma in 2001, when the Government recognized all who served from Rensselaer County. He was employed at the Wood Flong Corporation and retired from Oak Industries both in Hoosick Falls. Bill was a member and served on the Board of Directors of the Pioneer Fish and Game Club. In the past years Bill was involved with Hoosick Falls Little League, St. Stanislaw Society, Hoosick Falls Fire Department, where he was a past member and dispatcher. He was also involve with the Village politics serving as a Village Trustee and Deputy Mayor for many years. Bill was also a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church. He was very devoted to his family. Other than his wife Eleanor, he leaves six children Carol Greenwood and Jerri Saari of Salem, N.Y., Doug Greenwood and Elizabeth of Jacksonville, Fla., Barb Wagner and Todd, Sharon Kipp and Andy, Linda O'Dell and Rock and John Greenwood and Kelly all of Hoosick Falls, 10 grandchildren Matthew Saari, Spencer and Genevieve Greenwood, Lindsay and Andrea Wagner, Keeley Kipp, Rocky and Laura O'Dell, Madison and McKenna Greenwood, one great-grandchild Chloe O'Dell. Bill also leaves three sisters Mary Fitzpatrick and Rita Greenwood both of Hoosick Falls, and Kathy Hauser of Shaftsbury, Vt., also many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sisters Agnes "Gee" Marcoux, Helen McMillian, Lillian "Diddy" Greenwood and a brother Ron Greenwood. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will be Tuesday Dec. 9 at 9:15 a.m. from the MAHAR FUNERAL HOME, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial will follow the mass at St. Mary's Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday form 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Pioneer Fish & Game Club or Rensselaer County Community Hospice through the funeral home.
