HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- William J. Sheridan, 81, died Saturday, March 29, 2003 at the Samuel S. Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany. He resided on School Street in Hoosick Falls.

He was born Aug. 30, 1921 in Hoosick Falls, son of the late William and Catherine (Mulligan) Sheridan. Bill was educated at St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in World War II in the Navy Armed Guard. He was an antique dealer all of his life. Bill was a member of the VFW Post 8417 and the Immaculate Conception Church, both in Hoosick Falls.

Survivors include two brothers, Francis Sheridan of North Adams, Mass., and Leonard Sheridan of Lansingburgh; also survived by five nieces and two nephews. Bill is predeceased by two sisters, Elizabeth Pokines and Mary Van Orman, and a brother, Walter Sheridan.

A mass of Christian burial will be offered on Tuesday, April 1 at 11 a.m. from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial will follow the mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main St., Hoosick Falls. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Hoosick Food Closet or the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad through the funeral home.
