William J. Koehler

1923-2010 HOOSICK, N.Y. William J. "Bill" Koehler, 87, passed away on Saturday July 17, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vermont. He formerly resided on Route 7 in Hoosick and was the husband of the late Claire (Harrington) Koehler.

Bill was born on January 10, 1923 in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., son of the late Frank and Mary McPhail Koehler. He attended schools in Hoosick Falls and was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. While in the Army he served in Central Europe, Northern France and Rhineland.

Bill was a car salesman at Patrie Chevrolet for many years. He also owned and operated B&C Christmas Tree Farm in Hoosick. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing going to OTB, he also owned thoroughbreds throughout the years. He was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church and a former member of the Elks and V.F.W. in Hoosick Falls.

Survivors include his daughter, Sandra Koehler, of Portland, Oregon; sons, Randy Harrington of Hoosick, William Koehler of San Antonio, Texas and Richard Koehler of New Lebanon, N.Y.; a grandson and three great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Relatives and friends may call at the MAHAR FUNERAL HOME, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls on Thursday, July 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Second Chance Animal Shelter or the Make-A-Wish Foundation through the funeral home.
