William LaPorte Sr.
1925-2010 HOOSICK FALLS, NY William LaPorte Sr., 85, of Hackamore Road in Montpelier, Vt., and a longtime resident of Hoosick Falls, died on Monday, May 17, 2010, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, after a brief stay at the Vermont Veterans' Home prior to his death.
Born in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., on Mar. 13, 1925, to William and Anna McGrath LaPorte, he attended schools in Hoosick Falls, and also attended Syracuse University for two years.
William served in WWII in the Army 9th Counter Intelligence Corp in the Pacific, as well as later serving in the Korean conflict.
He married Catherine Allen on Nov. 26, 1960.
He was the owner of LaPorte Boot Shop, Soldax Manufacturing Company and The Liquor Store, all in Hoosick Falls.
William leaves his wife, Catherine of Hoosick Falls; his son, William LaPorte Jr. and his wife, Melodie, of Montpelier; daughter, Margaret LaPorte and her partner, Jessica Kidder, of Montpelier; and grandchildren, Zachary and Kate, of Montpelier.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Nanette, in 2007
MEMORIAL NOTICE: A private graveside service will be held on Friday, May 21 2010 at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center.
