Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral Services for William M. Pembroke were held from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church Thursday, April 27, 2006, where the Mass of resurrection was offered by the Rev. Vincent Coppola, associate pastor.

Organist was Donald McMahon and soloist was Monica Murray. Hymns offered during the funeral service were “On Eagles’ Wings,” “Amazing Grace,” “How Great Thou Art,” “Be Not Afraid” and “I Am the Bread of Life.”

The funeral pall that draped Mr. Pembroke’s casket was placed by his four children, Lisa Marie Pembroke, Kimberly Burdick, Todd Michael Pembroke and Jeffrey Pembroke. A wooden cross was than laid on the casket by Mr. Pembroke’s wife, Christine Pembroke. The scriptural readings were given by Mr. Pembroke’s sister and brother, Beverlee Pembroke Hill and Richard Pembroke. The offertory gifts were presented by two granddaughters, Loren and Hillary Pembroke. Acolytes were Leonard Anzivino, Joseph Anton, Gerald Amadon, Barth Vander Els and Ryan Pembroke, a grandnephew of Mr. Pembroke.

Bearers were six nephews, Russell, Ronald and Richard Pembroke, Daniel and John Hill and James Kurrlee.

A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the funeral Mass.

Wednesday evening Father Coppola offered the wake service at the funeral home. Members of the Bennington Lions Club attended in a group Wednesday evening to pay their respects to the family.

Private committal services took place in the family lot at Hinsdillville Cemetery with Father Copploa offering the committal prayers.

Mr. Pembroke, a resident of Bridge Street, Bennington, died April 24, 2006, in Albany, N.Y., following a long illness.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
