1944 - 2015 CAMBRIDGE, NY Dr. William Franklin McCoy, died peacefully August 23, 2015 at the home of a family member. He was born November 8, 1944 and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. Franklin graduated from the University of Alabama Birmingham School of Medicine in 1970. He completed a rotating internship at White Plains Hospital in White Plains, NY in 1971 and a year of internal medicine residency training at Grasslands Hospital in Valhalla, NY in 1972. From 1972 through 1974 he was a medical officer in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge from the Army he studied homeopathy. In 1974 he opened a private practice specializing in homeopathic medicine. He continued his practice in Greenwich, CT and later Tallahassee, FL. He was in private practice in Cambridge, NY at the time of his death. Dr. McCoy was a Diplomate of the American Board of Homeo-therapeutics (D.Ht), a member of the Homeopathic Medical Society of the State of New York, a member of American Board of Homeotherapeutics, and a member of the American Institute of Homeopathy. He had continued his education throughout his life, most recently completing a Homeopathic course in May. As a Physician he was known to be readily available to his patients and gave of his time generously. Franklin devoted much of his adult life in pursuits of spiritual fulfillment and he devoted much of his spare time and energy to supporting the groups he joined. He was an early adopter of computers and all technology and was glad to share his knowledge with others. He had a sense of humor that he shared with those he was close to. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Louise Valentine McCoy, his mother, Adrienne McCardell McCoy and his father, Dr. Walter C. McCoy. He is survived by his son, Christopher McCoy (Valarie), his step-children, Sharon Fitzgerald, Darien Fitzgerald (Kate) and Eleyne Fitzgerald, his brother, Clayton McCoy (Jane), sisters, Carolyn Lemond (Charles), Melanie Jackson (Thomas). In addition to his 8 grandchildren; he is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. SERVICES: The family has a private service scheduled. An additional service is planned to be at the Courtyard by Marriott in Rye, NY at a later date.
