SANDGATE -- William Parkes Henry, 88, a resident of Southeast Corners Road in Sandgate, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington. He was born in Bridgeport, Conn., on Feb. 2, 1917, the son of Clifford and Blanche (Wood) Henry and attended local schools. Mr. Henry worked as a supervisor at Raytheon Machlett Labs in Stamford, Conn. for many years. He was a World War II veteran serving as a member of the United States Army. William was a very active member of the Sandgate Methodist Church throughout the years serving on many church committees. He was very active as a local volunteer and very much a giving person. He enjoyed collecting antiques, especially clocks, enjoyed flying his airplane, sailing and boating as a youth and loved living in Vermont. He loved the theater and being with people. He was very active in Sandgate community affairs and was a former select person and was a life member of American Legion Post 90 in Arlington.

He is survived by his son, William Henry of Easton, Conn.; his daughter, Robin Jones of Arlington; his sister, Dorothy Fullin of Easton; six grandchildren, six nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara (Anderson) Henry, who died Sept. 6, 1974.

Funeral services for Mr. Henry will be held at a time to be announced. Interment will be in Sandgate Cemetery. There are no visiting hours.
