DANBY -- William Yrsha, 89, of Danby, passed away at his home Wednesday morning Jan. 3, 2006. He was born in Minneville, N.Y., on Aug. 26, 1917, the son of Casimir and Anna (Gydzis) Yrsha. He was married to the former Anne Pashol for over 58 years.

William was an Army Veteran of WWII where he served in the European, African, and Middle Eastern theaters. He was a quarryman with the Vermont Marble Company for 33 years. He loved hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Anne, of Danby; two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Jane Yrsha of Cambridge, N.Y., and John and Collette Yrsha of Danby; grandchildren Marc and Amy Yrsha of Glens Falls, N.Y., and Chad Yrsha of Rutland; and great-grandson Chase Yrsha of Glens Falls, N.Y. He was predeceased by his brothers, John, Ben, Steve and Joe Yrsha and a sister, Stella Yrsha.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 5, 2006, at 1 p.m. at the Brewster Funeral Home 34 Park Place Manchester Center, VT with Father John Whalen officiating.
