Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Winfield J. Williams, 90, a former resident of Jefferson Heights, Bennington, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at Crescent Manor Nursing Home.

Born in Bennington Sept. 11, 1913, he was the son of the late Fred S. and Harriet R. (Allen) Williams. He received his education in the Bennington schools.

Mr. Williams was married to the former Dorothy B. Kornitzer, who died Feb. 14, 1996.

For many years he was employed as the parts manger at the former Bennington Ford Garage. He was a member of Mt. Anthony Lodge No. 13, F. & A. M. in Bennington, and in earlier years, enjoyed hunting, fishing and painting.

Survivors include a step-daughter, Barbara Loh of Williamsburg, Va.; two step-sons, William J. Kornitzer Jr. of Kansas City, Mo. and John C. Kornitzer of Fairway, Kan.; seven step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Ruth Coughlin of Biddeford, Maine, Virginia Allen and Marion Rowe, both of Bennington, Elsie Martin of Texas; two brothers, Fritz Williams of Denton, Texas and Richard Williams of Towson, Md.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Williams was predeceased by a step-son, Robert Kornitzer and by a sister and brother, Harriet Lawrence and Theodore Williams.

The funeral will be held from St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Saturday, May 8, 2004 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Canon Robert Miner, interim pastor, officiating.

Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.

Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Should friends desire, contributions in Mr. Winfield Williams’ memory may be made to the Activities Fund at Crescent Manor Care Centers through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.

All members of Mt. Anthony Lodge No. 13, F. & A. M. are asked to meet at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Friday evening at 7:15 to conduct services in memory of Winfield J. Williams.
