Winifred McKeighan 1925 - 2009 SALEM, NY Winifred Ruth McKeighan, 83, formerly of Salem, passed away Monday evening, Feb. 2, 2009, at Crescent Manor in Bennington, Vt., where she resided since 2003. Mrs. McKeighan was born Nov. 20, 1925, in Salem, daughter of Henry & Ruth Higgins Beattie. She graduated from Granville High School and had worked at various locations including the Asgrow Seed Company in Cambridge, she worked in the cafeteria at Salem Washington Academy for several years and retired in 1989 from Sherwood Medical in Argyle, N.Y. Mrs. McKeighan enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking, gardening and spent a great deal of time helping to raise her grandchildren. She was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church. She was married for 60 years to G. Holden McKeighan who passed away June 23, 2003. Mrs. McKeighan leaves her children, Patricia M. Williams of Salem, David H. McKeighan, and his wife Dixie, of Hudson Falls, N.Y., Terrance B. McKeighan and his wife Cathy, of Salem, Connie L. McKeighan of Bennington and Timothy W. McKeighan and his wife Renee, of Waterford, S.D. She also leaves her four sisters, Doris Rice of Virginia, Mary Perkins of Danvers, Mass., Louise Keys of Salem, Barbara Hunter of Salem and a brother, Charles Beattie of Salem; a daughter-in-law, Donna McKeighan of Granville and 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also pre-deceased by a son, Frank H. McKeighan, a grandson, Warren Williams, a brother, Carl Beattie and a sister, Patricia Richardson. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, at the MCCLELLAN FUNERAL HOME, 19 East Broadway, Salem with the Rev. Robert Flower officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. service at the funeral home. Interment will take place at a later date in the Rupert Cemetery, Rupert, VT.
