SALEM, NY Winnifred (Winnie) Riggle, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at the age of 93 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT.

She and her parents, Jane and Reginald Vockins and brother, Reg, moved to Katonah from Greenwich, CT in 1934 where they started the family boarding business, Spring Hill Kennels.

Winnie was an airline attendant with Eastern Airlines for a time but she worked at the kennel for most of her life and was known for her grooming skills and love for all "her" dogs. Winnie was also very active in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and was a founding member of the local "Stock Watchers." She retired to upstate Salem, New York with husband, Ty Riggle where they enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities together. Winnie was an avid sportswoman enjoying hunting and fishing. She loved her Porsche and enjoyed riding throughout the area.

Winnie is survived by her two sons, Reginald (Bucky) Tschorn of Arlington, VT and Henry (Hank) Tschorn of Katonah, grandchildren, Daniel, Jennifer and David Tschorn of Katonah and Brandon and Brian Tschorn of VT as well as 4 great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, January 12, 2013 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 32 East Broadway, Salem with the Very Rev. Gary Kriss officiating. A celebration of Winnie's life will continue in the church rectory adjacent to the church where stories and memories can be shared.
