Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- A mass of Christian death and burial was held for Mrs. Yvette C. Ratelle, at the Four Chaplains All Faiths Chapel of the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington with the Rev. Michael DeMasi, chaplain, officiating. The pall was placed on the casket by her son John Ratelle, and her nephew, Jerry Baillargeon. The small wooden cross was placed on the pall by a granddaughter, Lynn Devenow. Organist for the mass was Donald McMahon and the soloist was Millie Pierce. The selected hymns for the mass were; “Nearer My God To Thee,” “How Great Thou Art,” “Supper of the Lord,” and “On Eagle’s Wings.” The First reading was read by James Main, and the second reading was read by Kathy Noll. The eucharistic gifts were presented at the altar by her daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Jay Grube. The eulogy was offered by Mrs. Ratelle’s grandson, John and Mrs. Ratelle’s favorite prayer, “Hello God, I called today to talk awhile,” was read by her granddaughter, Eileen Main.

Interment followed in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington.

Pallbearers for the services were Scott Devenow, Justin Devenow, Mike Noll, Steven Grube, Jay Grube Jr. and Dan Fraiser.

A vigil service was offered by Father DeMasi during the visitation on Thursday evening. Yvette C. Ratelle, 85, a longtime resident of Bennington, died peacefully in the loving care of her family, at her residence on Wednesday, March 3, 2004, following a brief illness.

Services were under the direction of the E.P. Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
