John B. Burgess Sr.
1932 - 2014 CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. John Barry Burgess Sr., 81, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 11, 2014, with his family by his side day and night, at the Centers for Living & Rehab in Bennington. He was the husband of Mary Angela "Angie" Ramacco Burgess, whom he married on July 11, 1953 in Richmond, Va. John was born Nov. 13, 1932, at home, in Lebanon, Conn., son of the late Morris and Dorothy Cummings Burgess. He graduated from Windham High School in 1950 in Willimantic, Conn. After high school, John enlisted in the United States Navy and served on shore patrol. John was a herd manager at the University of Connecticut for some time. He spent most of his life as a dairy farmer operating Twin B Farm in Connecticut, before moving to Hoosick Falls to continue farming. After retiring from farming, he went into the housing business with his son, Jay. He enjoyed having horses around, his vegetable garden, and feeding the birds and the deer. Being outside "putterin" in his yard made him happy. Survivors, other than his wife, Angie, include their children, Terry Burgess of Rossville, Tenn., Jeff Burgess and his wife, Marcia, of Canajoharie, N.Y., and John "Jay" Burgess Jr. and his wife, Lois, of Cambridge, N.Y.; grandchildren, Jennifer Newman and her husband, Alex, John Krueger, Nikki LaFave and her husband, Aaron, Jessie Kasprisin and her husband, Eric, Rachel Essaff and her husband, Justin, Sarah Santacroce and her husband, Frank, Megan Wood and her husband, Chris, and Becky Burgess and her fiance`, Eric Mattie; great-grandchildren, Myah and Dylan LaFave, Rylee Santacroce, and Natalie and Ben Wood. John is predeceased by a sister, Barbara. FUNERAL NOTICE: John's wishes were that there be no calling hours or services. John will be buried in the family plot in Lebanon, Conn. John would like for people to feed the hungry animals. Arrangements are under the direction of the MAHAR FUNERAL HOME, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, New York. A special thank you to Dr. Marcus Martinez and his staff, and also Matt Nielson at the Center for Living & Rehab. John loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much, and was known Lovingly as "G-pa".
