Alice B. Cooke Koehler Bogardus

1926-2014 PETERSBURG, NY Alice B. Cooke Koehler Bogardus, 87, a resident of Fox Hollow Road, Petersburg, N.Y. went to meet her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Born in Bolton Landing, N.Y. on July 3, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Cooke Sr. and Marie (Dempsey) Cooke. Alice received her education in the Bennington schools and was a graduate of Bennington High School. Alice married Walter George Koehler in Hoosick Falls, NY in June, 1944. Mr. Koehler died March 15, 1953. Alice later married William J. Bogardus. In earlier years Alice had been employed at both Nancy Shoe Company and The Undergarment Company in Hoosick Falls. She enjoyed reading the Bible, puzzle books and scrapbooking. Alice's most cherished times were those spent with her children, grandchildren and great-children. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Starlene and Berniss Taft Jr. of Petersburg, N.Y., Deborah and Glen Hanlon of Ocala, Fla., Beverly and Philip Oakley of Covington, Ga. and April Freeman of New York; her husband, William J. Bogardus Sr. of Bennington; William Jr. and Wanda Bogardus of Cambridge, N.Y., Robert and Wayne Bogardus, both of Petersburg, N.Y. and Rosemarie Bogardus Percey and Teddy Bogardus, both of Bennington; 29 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 8 great great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Cooke Dexter of California and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Alice was predeceased by a daughter, Penny Bogardus; and four siblings, Beatrice Cooke Dexter, Hazel Cooke Taylor, Charles and Francis Cooke. FUNERAL NOTICE: Memorial services celebrating the life of Alice B. Cooke Koehler Bogardus will be held from the MAHAR SON FUNERAL HOME in Bennington on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Michael Benoit of the Cornerstone Fellowship in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., officiating. Friends may pay their respects to the family on Tuesday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery in the spring.
