1928 - 2014 NORTH BENNINGTON Madeline J. Dalton, 85, widow of Sam Dalton, died Saturday, 10, 2014 at the home of her sister-in-law, Mary Muckle, on McCarthy Acres in North Bennington. Born in Bennington Aug. 6, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Henrietta Kelley Muckle. Madeline was a 1947 graduate of North Bennington High School. Sam and Madeline were married in Bennington on Aug. 30, 1969. They enjoyed flying, fishing, and traveled throughout the U.S. and a trip to England. Sam died March 7, 2008. Prior to her retirement, Madeline had been employed for 30 years at Tansitor Electronics in Bennington. Together with her husband, Madeline had been very active in Shriners activities for many years. She enjoyed flowers and bird watching. Survivors include a brother, Gordon Muckle of Bennington; a sister-in-law, Mary Muckle of North Bennington, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Madeline was predeceased by a sister and two brothers, Audna Parker, and Duane and Howard Muckle. FUNERAL NOTICE: Committal services will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Park Lawn Cemetery at 11 a.m. In keeping with Madeline's wishes, all family members are requested to meet at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Thursday at 10 a.m., prior to the committal service. Should friends desire, memorial contributions in Madeline Muckle Dalton's name may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
