Donald Raymond Cameron

1933 - 2014 BENNINGTON Donald Raymond "Kemo" Cameron, 80, a resident of White Birches Park, Bennington, died Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, N.Y. Born in East Arlington, Vt., June 2, 1933, he was the son of the late Lloyd R. and Florence Grover Cameron. Don received his education in the Arlington schools. On June 23, 1956, he married the former Bernice Carol Berry. In 1949, Don began his working career at Keough Brothers in North Bennington. He later worked at J.K. Adams in South Dorset, Hale Company in East Arlington, and the Union Carbide Corporation in Bennington. For 11 years, he worked as a machine operator at Globe Union in Bennington, later at Bennington Display, and for another 11 years at UST from which he retired. Following his retirement, he went to work for a brief time at Central VT Public Service and then worked at the Mount Anthony Country Club in Bennington for 11 years. He was a former member of the Bennington Moose Lodge and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, traveling, and playing golf. Survivors include his wife, Bernice Carol Cameron of Bennington; his children, Donna M. Fitzpatrick (Robert) of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., Scott B. Cameron (Diana) of Hebron, N.Y., David M. Cameron of Hebron, N.Y. and Kevin Michael Cameron of Brattleboro, Vt. He is also survived by a special "other daughter," April D. Cameron of Salem, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, Jason A. Hagadorn (Vickie) of Cambridge, N.Y., Donald W. Cameron (Bobbi) of South Glens Falls, N.Y., Ron M. Hall (Brionne) of North Hoosick, N.Y., Leigh Anne Parks (Jason) of Bennington, Amy R. Cameron of Warrensburg, N.Y., Kyle S. Tubbs of Queensbury, N.Y., and Lauren B. Cameron of Salem, N.Y.; five great-granddaughters, three great-grandsons; a brother, Robert Cameron of West Stockbridge, Mass.; a sister, Janet Jones of Cambridge, N.Y., and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Jean Wright, and a brother, Edwin Cameron. FUNERAL NOTICE: Friends are invited to pay their respects to the family at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Saturday, May 31, from 10 a.m. until noon. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family at Evergreen Cemetery in Arlington, Vt. Should friends desire, contributions in memory of Donald R.
