Howard A. Jennings

1941 - 2014 EAST ARLINGTON Howard A. Jennings, 73, a lifelong resident of East Arlington, died peacefully at his home on Friday evening, June 20, 2014, following a long courageous battle with health issues. He passed in the company of his loving family. The son of the late Clifford and Marion (Hazelton) Jennings, Howard was born at home on Aug. 23, 1941, just a few houses away from where he was now living. He attended Arlington schools and then joined the US Air Force. Upon his discharge, he returned to Arlington and began a 32-year career with Stanley Tools in Shaftsbury. He was a former member of American Legion Post 69, Red Mountain Lodge F&AM, Shriners and served in the National Guard in Bennington and Chester. He had enjoyed watching Westerns- especially John Wayne movies, playing softball, golf and hunting. He was very involved with his family. He adored his grandchildren and loved watching them play sports. He will be remembered as a tough guy who fought hard to maintain his health, he was a good husband, father and grandfather. He married the former Nancy Joan Murphy at St. John the Baptist Church in North Bennington on Sept. 4, 1965. Howard leaves his wife Nancy; sons, Darrin and wife, Kendell, Jennings of Arlington, and Keith Jennings of Hoosick Falls, N.Y.; daughter, Tammy Jennings, and wife, Lisa Champagne, of Arlington; brothers, James Jennings of Holley, Pa., and Philip Jennings of Savanah, Ga.; grandsons, DJ and Cooper Jennings; granddaughter, Daniella Jennings, and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Dale, and by sisters, Jacqueline and Clara Hall. FUNERAL NOTICE: The family will receive friends on Friday, June 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. at American Legion Hall Post 69 in Arlington.
