Peter Alexander Metcalfe 1954-2011 On May 26, 2011 at 3:20 p.m., Peter Metcalfe passed away surrounded by his loving family. At 3:21 p.m., St Peter at the pearly gates was doubled over from laughter at the joke told to him by brother Pete. Peter was born April 7, 1954, the second son, of Janice and Willard Metcalfe. He attended MAUHS where he developed a major interest in cooking at the CDC Center. Pete's ability in cooking led him to become the first chef at the Publix House. Peter then headed to Johnson Controls were he not only became the boss, but more important to him a friend to many. He then went to Tansitor for four more years. Peter loved to make people laugh, loved to cook (and cook he could), he loved to be with family and he loved to hunt the big ridge with his brother Bill. On August 20, 1988, Peter married the absolute love of his life, Jene Forcier on the Gazebo at Ashwood Nursery. Every man should have the good fortune to be married to such a loving wife. Peter was a proud Dad and an even prouder Grandpa. Geoff and Michelle Metcalfe and Jason and Holly Metcalfe have been wonderful sons. Kerrie Sue Metcalfe, Peter's precious little girl has been a shining light for our entire family. Grandchildren Amber, Alyvia and Austin can only smile when they remember Papa Pete. Pete has four brothers, Wynn and Susan Metcalfe, Brent and Sue Metcalfe, Jeff and Deborah Metcalfe, Bill and Michele Metcalfe and stepsister Kathy Carrier. All of whom will forever remember Pete's laughter. Uncle Pete will be missed by his nieces and nephews, Jacob, Jordan, Megan, Cody, B-Meghan, Jenny Rae, Trevor, Jeramie and Samantha. Peter has been such a caring son for his mother Janice Squires. Peter was a wonderful friend to many, his closet friend Wayne Pellitier and card playing buddy Ray. At Peter's request there will be a Celebration of his life at St Peter's Episcopal Church on Saturday, June 4, at 11 am. This will be followed by one big party at his home following the service. Memorial gifts in Peter's memory can be made to the Pownal Rescue Squad or Bennington Rescue Squad, through the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home. The family has entrusted arrangements with the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home of Bennington, Vermont.
