Frank H. "Bud" Crawford 1925-2011 BENNINGTON Frank H. "Bud" Crawford, 85, a resident of Burgess Road, Bennington, died Thursday, September 22, 2011 at his residence following a brief illness. Born in Hoosick Falls, N.Y. December 20, 1925, he was the son of the late Elmer and Marion Crawford. Frank received his education in the Bennington schools. During World War II Frank joined the Civil Service Administration and spent two years in Pearl Harbor. Frank married the former Phyllis Lockrow at St. Peters Episcopal Church in Bennington on August 3, 1947. He was employed at the former Henry M. Tuttle Company for 42 years as both a Master Plumber and Master Electrician. He later was self employed for three years until his retirement. Frank was a communicant of St. Peters and was also a member of the Bennington Elks Lodge 567. A former member of the Hale Mountain Fish and Game Club, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a league bowler for 33 years. Over the years Frank built a camp in Shoreham and also a log cabin on Chapel Road. He was a beekeeper, a Mr. Fix- It, enjoyed a good game of pitch, watching golf on Sunday afternoons and sitting on his porch. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Crawford of Bennington; ten children and their spouses, Stephen and Chris Crawford, Priscilla and William Rice, Eric and Jayne Crawford, Theodore "Ted" and Linda Crawford, Jeff and Andrea Crawford, Melinda and Jeff Santarcangelo, Laurie and Michael Crawford Myers, Elizabeth "Beth" and Paul Lemperle, Joseph and Chris Crawford, all of Bennington and Melody and Dan Zwynenburg of Pownal; forty four grandchildren, forty eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandaughter; three sisters, Marion Boutin of North Bennington, Sally King of Cambridge, New York and Susan Bull of Bennington; two brothers, Walter Crawford and John Crawford, both of Bennington and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Frank was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Rocky Crawford, a son-in-law, Curtis Carey and by five siblings, Joanne Reed, Chris, Fred, Michael and Harvey Crawford. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Sunday, September 25, 2011at 1 p.m. with Rev. John S. Mitchell, Rector of Zion Episcopal Church in Manchester officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Following the funeral service relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of life to be held at the Bennington Moose Club. Private committal services will take place at White Chapel Cemetery in Bennington at the convenience of the family. Should friends desire memorial contributions in Frank H. Crawford's memory may be made to either St. Peters Episcopal Church, Bennington Project Independence or to BPOE # 567 to be used for the Silver Towers Camp in Ripton, VT, through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
