Norman Strobridge Obituary

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Norman R. Strobridge were held at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home on Saturday morning, Nov. 26, 2005.

Officiating was family friend the Rev. Gary F. Dickson, who reflected upon Norm’s many endearing qualities as a businessman, family man, his civic involvement and sportsmanship.

Special musical selections included “Amazing Grace” and “Rock of Ages.”

The American flag draping the casket of the World War II Air Force veteran was folded by Commander Jack Moxley and Paul Leon of American Legion Post 90 of Pownal. In turn, Col. James Boutin presented the flag to Norm’s wife, Helen in honor of his duty to country. Taps were sounded during the folding.

Burial, with a prayer followed in the Strobridge family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery in Pownal. Committal prayers were offered at the funeral home by the Rev. Dickson.

Serving as bearers were James Boutin, Adam Strobridge, Daniel Strobridge, Roger Strobridge, Peter Strobridge and Stephen Kauppi. Honorary bearers were Rachael Mason, Karen Burrington, Bill James, David Dence, Joseph Tornabene Sr. and Joseph Medeiros.

On Friday evening at the funeral home, services were held by Bennington Elks Lodge No. 567 under the direction of Exalted Ruler Lori Pinsonneault; American Legion Post 90 of Pownal with Commander Jack Moxley and Chaplain Harry Johnson officiating; and Masonic Rites by Mount Anthony Lodge F&AM with Worshipful Master James Chancey leading the service.

Norman R. Strobridge, 80, a resident of Old Military Road, Pownal, died Nov. 21 at the Centers For Living and Rehabilitation. Arrangements were under the care of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home.
