Raymond C. Kelly
1941-2013 BENNINGTON Raymond C. Kelly, 72, a resident of Spring Valley Lane in Cambridge, N.Y. died peacefully in the company of his family on Friday, September 27, 2013 at the home of his daughter , Sherry and her fiance Doug Davidson of Foster Drive in Bennington. Ray was born at home in Jackson, N.Y. on April 17, 1941. He was the son of Charles and Grace(Marsciell) Kelly. He attended school in Argyle and at a young age began working on dairy farms where he learned to drive. He became lifelong professional truck driver working for Fort Ann Express, Holland Company and Yank waste of Albany from which he retired. He was a member of the Moose Family Center in Bennington and American Legion Post in Cambridge. Ray loved driving his pickup truck with Harley (a French bulldog) and enjoyed meeting his friends at all hours of the day at area coffee shops. He became a regular at Oma's in Bennington and Jean's in North Hoosick. He was treated like family at both places. Ray married Rose Wooddell on May 29, 1961 in White Creek, and they spent 51 years together prior to her passing on November 28, 2012. Following the loss of Rose, Ray relocated to his daughters home where he quickly became a friend to everyone in the neighborhood and was always willing to lend a hand to help out. His past few months were very enjoyable for Ray as he adapted to his new home and made new friends and stayed in touch with the old. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and classic country and western music. He leaves his daughters, Cynthia and husband Donald Colvin of Cambridge, Michele and Joseph Bisson of Pownal, Sherry Barrett and fiance Doug Davidson of Bennington and Malissa Kelly and fiance Robert Buck of Argyle; brother, Richard Kelley; sisters, Darlene Timms and Gladys Yandall; grandchildren, Erica Townsend, Jillian Townsend, Joshua Bisson, Cody Bisson, Kelly Rose Barrett, Nicole Barrett, Angel Russell, Raymond Russell, Cody Danforth, Tyler Davidson and Casey Davidson. He was predeceased by brothers, Robert Kelly and Reginald Kelley, and sister Hazel Blackman. FUNERAL NOTICE: There will be no services.
