Douglas E. Bushee

1964 - 2014 POWNAL Douglas E. Bushee, 49, a resident of Route 7 in Pownal, died unexpectedly Monday, April 21, 2014, at his residence. He was born in Bennington, June 21, 1964. He was the son of the late Francis "Bang" and Sharyll Wager Bushee. Doug received his education in Bennington and was a 1982 graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School. Doug served in the Army National Guard, where he attained the rank of Staff Sargeant. In earlier years, Doug was employed at Bennington Iron Works. For nineteen years Doug was employed at NSK and, for a short time, was employed at United McGill. For the last 6 years, Doug has been employed at the Watervliet Arsenal. While in high school, Doug was a member of the Mount Anthony Football team. He had also played flag football. He was a Pittsburgh Steeler fan and enjoyed hunting. His family was his main interest. Survivors include his fiancee, Victoria Ann Joslin of Pownal; daughter, Jillian Bushee of Pownal; two stepsons, Jeff Joslin of Arlington and Justin Joslin of Bennington; a brother, David Bushee and his wife, Katrina, of Wallingford, and his nephews and a niece, Ben and Connor Bushee of Wallingford, and Sam and July Bushee of Bennington. He was predeceased by a brother, Edward Bushee. FUNERAL NOTICE: A service to celebrate the life of Douglas E. Bushee will be held at the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME in Bennington on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 1 p.m. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. If friends desire, contributions in memory of Doug may be made to the Jillian Bushee Education Fund through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
