Hazel Springer Obituary
Hazel was born on April 28, 1921, in Bennington, Vermont, daughter of the late Leo M. and Lucy (Cornell) Surdam. She was a homemaker all of her life and enjoyed bowling and bingo. Hazel was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
Survivors include her daughters Dorothy Dawley (Charles), Sally Whittet (Steven) all of Hoosick Falls, NY, Gerry LaFlamme (Gary) of Bennington, VT, sons Charles Springer (Alice) and Roland Springer all of Eagle Bridge, NY, Robert Springer of Ballston Spa, NY, Richard Springer (Marcia) of Hoosick Falls, NY and Joseph Springer (Linda) of Buskirk, NY. Two step-sisters Ramona Gerrity and Helen Rock, sister-in-law Lorraine Surdam, also thirty-four grandchildren, seventy-six great grandchildren, seventeen great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Hazel is predeceased by two daughters Patricia McGarvin, Lucy Moseley, two sisters Dorothy Ryan and Betty, three brothers Arthur, Clifford and Leo Surdam, also two grandsons.
SERVICES: Funeral services will be Friday, July 7th, at 12 noon from the West Hoosick Baptist Church, West Hoosick, NY. Burial will follow the service at the West Hoosick Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 10:00 am until the start of the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Karen & Molly McGovern Memorial Fund, through the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls who are handling the services.

I am heartbroken to see the news of Hazel's passing, and apologise for the lateness of my condolences. Hazel has always and will always hold a very special place in my hear.
We were neighbours during my childhood, and I always felt part of that very large family. My sister Lisa and I were always playing with the many children that were at Hazel's home.
Hazel was always kind, always had room for one more, the older girls used to help get us ready for the school bus in the morning when my mother and grandmother were working.
I have so many wonderful memories of a very fine lady whom I was blessed to know and love.

Nan may have left but I don't have to let go of her love for me. Never missed a birthday. Always sent a card for everyone in the house on their birthday. Always welcomed my phone calls and loved to get updated pics Always looked out for everyone. She never complained to me no matter how much pain she was in. Missing her still. Really loved my nan

Nan this is goodbye but so long till we see each other again. I'll miss your beautiful smile, the way you razzed me about the Yankees and the fact that no matter what I was making I could call you in a heartbeat and you could fix it.
