Louisa Eichhammer Obituary

Louisa Mae Eichhammer

1936 - 2014 WILLIAMSTOWN Louisa Mae Eichhammer, 77, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2014, at Sweetbrook Care Center in Williamstown. Louisa was born Louisa Mae Reddersen on July 22, 1936, in Woodburn, Ind., one of three daughters of Betty Vogtman and Arthur Reddersen. She attended local Woodburn schools, graduating from Woodburn High School in 1954. She attended Valparaiso University in Indiana, where she met her husband, Charles Henry Eichhammer. They were married in 1958. Louisa and her husband lived in many states across the country before settling in the New York City area, where Charles was from. She held many different administrative jobs while there, including Walt Disney Corporation and Kelley Employment Services. In July of 1976, Louisa and her husband left the city life and moved to Williamstown, where they purchased and operated the Elwall Pines Motel, a long established motel in Williamstown. In August of 1978, Charles unexpectedly passed away. Louisa continued to operate the motel until 1994. Wanting to retire and spend some time south, Louisa moved to Auburndale, Fla., where she lived until returning to Williamstown in 2006. Louisa is survived by her son, Craig Eichhammer and his wife, Amy, of North Adams; a step-granddaughter, Bailee Duquette; two sisters, Linda Yerks and her husband, Bruce, of Michigan, Beverly Hormann and her husband, Robert, of Missouri; a brother-in-law, John Eichhammer and his wife, Ruth, of Arizona, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Louisa's family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Sweetbrook Care Center, who took such good care of her in her final days. FUNERAL NOTICE: Per the family's request, there are no calling hours. Memorial donations can be made in her name to Hospice Care of the Berkshires through the FLYNN AND DAGNOLI FUNERAL HOME, 74 Marshall Street in North Adams, MA 01247, who are in charge of arrangements. I was deeply saddened to learn that Louisa had passed. It is hard to believe that such a vibrant woman is no longer among us, but in my heart I know that she will always be with us. I cherish many fond memories of times shared with Louisa at Sweet Brook. Along with many of her beloved and loyal friends, I will miss her very much. A devoted letter writer, Louisa always kept in touch and you knew she really cared. May you find comfort Craig in your memories of a wonderful, warm, loving person who touched countless lives with her spirit. God bless you and bring you peace in the days ahead.
