William Trombley Obituary



William E. Trombley

SALEM William E. "Bill" Trombley, age 84, of Salem, loving husband of the late Juanita P. (Melton) Trombley of Salem, died peacefully on Saturday, February 1, 2014. Born and raised in North Adams, the son of the late William N. and Celia (Kearns) Trombley, he attended North Adams Schools and graduated from Drury High School in the class of 1948. During his senior year Mr. Trombley joined the Army National Guard and was activated to the Army in 1952 during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged from the National Guard as a 1st Lieutenant in 1963. He then became employed by the Wonderland Dog Track for many years and had also been employed at Suffolk Downs. In 1972 Mr. Trombley married his late wife and enjoyed 32 years of marriage until her passing in 2004. He is survived by three children, Richard Dion and his wife Marcy of Danvers, Jean Dion of Beverly, and Jean-Marie Engel of North Adams; six grandchildren, Crystale Wozniak, Robyn Dion, Stacey Jellerson, Joseph Dion, Gretchen Engel and David Engel; and five great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE: His funeral will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 12 p.m. at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 85 Federal St., (corner of North St.), Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Thursday morning prior to the services from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Murphy Funeral Home. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Wounded Warriors, c/o Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
