Marshall, Michael  
Michael J. Marshall 1944 - 2016 PITTSFIELD Mr. Michael J. "Mickey" Marshall, age 71, of 44 Third St., died Friday morning at the Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield. He was born May 29, 1944, the son of the late Arthur O. and Harriet Davis Marshall, Jr. He attended the local schools and was a 1962 graduate of Pittsfield High School. A professional roofer and siding applicator, he was employed by Pittsfield Roofing and Siding for many years. A U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Viet Nam war, he served in country as a jet mechanic. An avid fisherman, Mickey loved 'his Boston Red Sox'. With his wonderful and infectious humor, Mickey would easily bring a smile to your face and make you happy that you knew each other! He is survived by his two brothers, Neil O. Marshall of Pittsfield, and Kenneth A. Marshall of Springfield. SERVICES: In accordance with Michael's wishes, funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME.

Martin, Barbara Jean  
Barbara Jean Martin 1939 - 2016 HOUSATONIC Barbara Jean Martin, 76, died Monday, February 8, 2016 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Barbara was born on November 25, 1939 in Great Barrington, daughter of Oliver and Ethel (McCormick) Curtiss. She was a 1957 graduate of the former Searles High School. Barbara worked at Country Curtains in Housatonic and as an operator for New England Telephone. Barbara enjoyed cards and bingo. Barbara is survived by her husband, Thomas H. Martin whom she married on August 11, 1961 in Corpus Christi Church in Housatonic, three sons, Thomas H. Martin Jr. of Housatonic, James J. Martin of Oakland Park, FL and Jeffrey S. Martin of Ashley Falls and two sisters, Ann Pruhenski of Housatonic and Eleanor Makarski of Housatonic. Barbara was predeceased by two sisters, Shirley Eichstedt and Helen Hardy, one brother, Oliver Curtiss Jr. and grandson, Jeffrey Martin Jr. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Barbara Jean Martin will be held on Thursday, February 11 with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10a.m. at Blessed Theresa of Calcutta Parish, Corpus Christi Church with the Reverend William P. Mazzeo, Angela  
Angela Mazzeo 1921 - 2016 PITTSFIELD Angela Rosa Mazzeo, 94, formerly of Hamlin Street, died Sunday, February 7, 2016, at Mount Carmel Care Center. Born in Cairano, Province of Avellino, Italy, on June 13 1921, the daughter of Pasquale and Maria Teresa Sorrano Arace, she was educated in Italian schools. She married her husband, Vincenzo Mazzeo, on March 4, 1939, in Italy. They came to the United States in 1969 and settled in Pittsfield. Mr. Mazzeo died June 18, 1994. Mrs. Mazzeo had been employed in the Housekeeping Department at Berkshire Medical Center from where she retired in 1985 with 11 years service. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church. Mrs. Mazzeo is survived by two sons, Michele Mazzeo of Cairano, Italy, and Pasquale Mazzeo of Pittsfield; two daughters, Gaetana Ruggiero of Pittsfield, and Maria Mazzeo of Pittsfield; a brother, Salvatore Arace of Spinazzola, Italy; a sister, Concetta Frieri of Pittsfield; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by four brothers, Leone Arace, Erberto Arace, Enrico Arace, and Francesco Arace. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Angela Rosa Mazzeo will be held Friday, February 12, 2016, at 9:15a.m., from DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10a.m., at St. Joseph Church celebrated by the Rev. Msgr. Michael A. Shershanovich, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. McCarthy, Kathryn  
Kathryn A. McCarthy 1949 - 2016 ADAMS Mrs. Kathryn Ann (Gyurasz) McCarthy, 66, died on Tuesday morning, February 2, 2016 at her home. She was born in North Adams on July 15, 1949, a daughter of the late Edward and Eileen (Burke) Gyurasz. She attended Schools in North Adams and graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School. She was a communicant of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams. She was a member of the Polish National Alliance in Adams and a member of the North Adams Elks, where she was the former Chaplin. Kathryn had a zestful approach to all things in life that included an aggressive can do it all attitude. Aside from being a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, she had a myriad of professional ventures, a few being KK Home Mart, Croscill and Timberland Co. She most enjoyed her last job as a bartender/ events planner for the PNA in Adams. She loved all outdoor activities, especially gardening and enjoyed trips to Lake Champlain. She is survived by her husband, Richard T. McCarthy, her step-mother, Nancy Gyurasz of Naples, FL, two sons, Timothy T. McCarthy and his wife, Stacy of Cheshire and Thomas J. McCarthy and his fiance, Dawn Tetlow on Williamstown, one brother, Kurt Gyurasz of North Adams, four grandchildren, Sarah, Jerald, Ryan and Kaitlyn McCarthy, nieces and nephews, including, Kelley Wilson and Jason Choquette, Her best friends, Shelley Christofolini and Michelle Briggs and close family friends Jason and Krista Avery and their son Tyler. She was predeceased by one brother, Edward Gyurasz and by two sisters, Patti Marie Gyurasz and Jacqueline Gyurasz. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services and burial will be private for the family at a later date. Milde, Norma  
Norma M. Milde` 1920 - 2016 CHESHIRE Norma M. Milde`, 95, of 411 Jenks Road, died Friday at home with her family by her side. Born in Brooklyn, NY on September 17, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Florence Norris Milde`. A longtime Brooklyn native, she was educated in Brooklyn schools and was a 1939 graduate of St. Francis Xavier Academy. She also attended business school after her graduation. Miss Milde` was employed as a legal secretary for over 44 years at several Manhattan Law Offices. She retired in 1985. A communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire, she was also a parishioner at St. Patrick's Church in Brooklyn and a member of the Scripture Group, Bay Ridge Historical Society and Cheshire Senior Club. While in Brooklyn she also volunteered for "Seniors in Touch". She enjoyed artwork and crafts and was very artistic and creative. She leaves her cousin, Diane Hitter and her husband, Bob of Cheshire, MA with whom she resided as well as her nieces, nephews and cousins: Denise Brown, Marianne and Bob Szawaluk, Andrew and Meg Brown, Matthew, Michael, Tara and Jennifer Szawaluk, and Steven, Jacqueline and Douglas Brown FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Norma M. MIlde` of Cheshire who died February 5, 2016 will be held Thursday at 9:15a.m. from the DERY - CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire celebrated by the Rev. Mottor, Louis  
Louis F. Mottor 1942 - 2016 Louis (Lou) Mottor, age 73, died on January 27, 2016. Born in Pittsfield, MA on August 12, 1942, he was the son of Noel and Delphina (Tagliaferro) Mottor. He graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1960 and then attended Hudson Valley Community College for Civil Engineering. He worked for Petricca and Maxymillian Construction companies from 1963 1988. He was an avid collector of antique cars and was an active member of the Berkshire County Antique Car Club throughout the '70s and '80s. He moved to Daytona Beach, FL in 1988 where he owned/operated the Dutch Treat Restaurant in Port Orange, FL until 2002. Besides his mother of 100 years, he leaves his wife, Helene, his sister, Kathleen (Mottor) Householder, formerly of Dalton, and two sons with Carol (Gromatski) Nepton, Robert Mottor of Sunnyvale, TX and Ted Mottor of Holliston, MA. He also leaves daughter-in-laws, Karen (Derr) and Danielle (Powers) along with five grandchildren, Jack, Ryan, Tyler, Alyssa, and Brady. Internment scheduled for later this year at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Pittsfield.

Gloria B. Nowak 1926 - 2016 ADAMS Mrs. Gloria Barbara (Libardi) Nowak, 89, of 22 Newtown Rd., Sandwich, formerly of Adams, died on Friday, February 5, 2016 at Cape Heritage Nursing Home, Sandwich. She was born in North Adams on August 13, 1926, a daughter of the late John and Virginia (Scaia) Libardi. She attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School. Mrs. Nowak worked for General Electric Co., Pittsfield for many years until retiring in 1989. She was a communicant of the former St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Adams. Her husband, Joseph S. Nowak, whom she married on January 30, 1954, died on August 8, 1992. She is survived by one son, Daniel J. Nowak of Cheshire, CT, one daughter, Mary V. McCulloch of Sandwich, five grandchildren, Kyle McCulloch of Long Beach, CA, Kasey McCulloch of San Jose, Costa Rica, and Joseph, Amanda and Samantha Nowak of Cheshire, CT, two sisters, Lucy Sanecki of Adams and Eleanor Morris of Clarksburg and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Richard and Arthur Libardi. Albina R. Oppermann COHOES, NY Albina Rose Oppermann, 98, formerly of Housatonic, passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Eddy Village Green in Cohoes NY. Born and raised in Housatonic, she was an active member of the community and a devoted member of Corpus Christi Church (now Blessed Theresa of Calcutta) for over 91 years. A friend to all who knew her, Albina may best be remembered as "The Avon Lady", having sold throughout the region for over 40 years. Loving mother of JoAnn Carlotto Harris of Latham, NY and Penny Oppermann Jobin (Louis) of Fairfax, VA, Albina also leaves daughters-in-law, Judy Carlotto of Housatonic and Sharon Carlotto of Delran, NJ, as well as 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by husband, Natale Carlotto and husband, Lester Oppermann, as well as her sons, William and Robert Carlotto, and her grandson, Jeffrey Harris. LeRoy G. Palmer Jr. 1936 - 2016 TYRINGHAM LeRoy G. Palmer Jr., 79, of McDarby Road died Monday at the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. He was born in Pittsfield on June 7, 1936, the son of LeRoy G. and Dominica Koldys Palmer, Sr. He was educated at St. Mary's Parochial School and Lee High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 until 1957. After the service, he began employment at the former Hurlbut Paper Company in South Lee and retired in 1998 as Supervisor of Maintenance from the then Mead Corporation. LeRoy was a former member of the Greenock Country Club where he played in the Tuesday and Friday night Men's Leagues. He also belonged to the Thursday night pitch league at the Locker Room and where, on the first Saturday of each month, he made golumpkies. He leaves his wife, the former Margaret "Marge" McDarby whom he married September 10, 1971, one son, LeRoy "Butch" Palmer and his wife, Kristen of Tyringham; one daughter, Kelly Palmer and her husband, Mark Kelly of Lee; two brothers: Richard A. Palmer and his wife, Mary of Lee and John B. Palmer and his wife, Diane of Bricktown, NJ; his three grandchildren: Mikayla and Ben Kelly and Kenley Palmer. He was predeceased by his sister, June Dobson.
