Bernard Charles Ropelewski
1923-2013 Mr. Bernard Charles Ropelewski, son of Joseph and Sophia Galarzyn Ropelewski, died Sunday evening, November 10, 2013 at home. Born in Pittsfield on September 27, 1923, he attended local schools and was a 1941 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He was employed at General Electric for 40 years, with 35 years in plant protection. A life member of Holy Family Church, he was a current member of St. Joseph's Church. He was also a life member of the Polish Community Club and the GE Quarter Century Club. He was predeceased by three brothers, Walter, Stanley and Chester Ropelewski; three sisters, Mildred Hillman, Blanche Falkenbush and Jennie Harte; two sisters-in-law, Helen and Isabel Ropelewski; a brother-in-law, Augustus Falkenbush; a nephew, Daniel Ropelewski, and a nephew-in-law, Anthony Guerino. He leaves a brother-in-law, John Harte of Pittsfield; a sister-in-law, Irene Ropelewski of Pittsfield, and 13 nieces and nephews, Thomas Ropelewski and his wife Leslie Dixon, and their son; Mary Ellen Ropelewski and children; Richard Falkenbush and his wife, Sue, and children; Elaine Wheelock and husband William, and children; Barbara Keenan and husband, Dr. Patrick Keenan, and children; Donna and Michael Albano and children; Carol Ropelewski; Lorraine Guerino and children; Nancy King and husband Michael, and her children; Robert Ropelewski and wife, Mary Ellen; David Harte Sr. and wife Sherry and children; Debra King and husband Anthony, and children, and Kathleen Chiaretto and husband Terrance, and children. FUNERAL NOTICE: Ropelewski, Bernard, age 90, of Pittsfield, died Nov. 10th. The family will receive friends Thursday morning November 14th at The DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME beginning at 8:30 am. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00AM at St. Joseph's Church with the Rev. Msgr. Michael A. Shershanovich, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to either St. Joseph's Church or HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME.
