Blanche T. Koczela
1918 - 2013 ADAMS Blanche Theresa (Nowak) Koczela, 94, formerly of 5 Baskin Lane, Adams, died Friday afternoon, February 1, 2013, at Williamstown Commons.
She was born in Adams on February 12, 1918, a daughter of Jan and Helen (Strzepek) Nowak, and attended St. Stanislaus Elementary School. Mrs. Koczela last worked at General Electric Co. in Pittsfield for 25 years, until retiring in 1980. Earlier, she had worked at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Co. in Adams. She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, and was a member of the Polish Women's Alliance and the Polish National Alliance.
Her husband, Stephen J. "Jimmy" Koczela, whom she married on October 26, 1940, died on December 20, 1995.
She is survived by her daughter, Louise Charron, of Adams; three grandchildren, James Charron and his wife, Melissa, of Adams, Julie Groen and her husband, Chris, of South Burlington, VT and Pam Niarchos and her husband, Peter, of Williston, VT; seven great grandchildren, Jenna, Jessica and Corey Charron; Alexandra and Kaitlin Groen; and Paige and Mitchell Niarchos, as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Lawrence Charron; and by her sisters, Mildred Zabek and Monica Kurpiel.
FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held on Thursday, Feb. 7th, at 9:00 AM from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Parish of Blessed John Paul. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
