Bruce Melvin Cornwell
1931-2013 HINSDALE Bruce Melvin Cornwell, 83, of 140 Adams Road, Hinsdale, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Peru on January 29, 1931, he was educated in Peru, Hinsdale, and Pittsfield schools.
He served with the United States Navy
Mr. Cornwell was employed a logging contractor most of his life.
He has also worked for Crane & Company from where he retired.
Mr. Cornwell had served with the Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department.
Home and family were important to Mr. Cornwell, and he and his wife were foster parents for many years. His dog, Lula, was a big part of his family, as well.
He was a great outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and gardening.
The family of Mr. Cornwell expresses a special "Thank You" to Pamela Cornwell Scalzo and Jeannine Salvatore for their loving professional support during his illness.
Mr. Cornwell leaves his wife, the former Sally A. Fox, whom he married March 28, 1951.
He is also survived by five sons, Anthony B. Cornwell of Peru, and his companion, Sheri Erbin, Thomas J. Cornwell and his wife, Brigette, of Dalton, James G. Cornwell of Dalton, Timothy Cornwell of Pittsfield, and Christian Cornwell of Hinsdale; three daughter, Cynthia Marie Pratt and her husband, David, of Lenox Dale, Mary G. Goerlach and her husband, Michael, of Hinsdale, and Sheila A. DelSoldato and her husband, William, of Lee; as well as nineteen grandchildren, Chad, Rebecca, Lindsay, David, Justin, Mitchell, Ryan, Michael, Sarah, Christopher, Jonah, Spencer, Emma, Julia, Matthew, Nathan, Marta, Jordan, and Callen; and fifteen great grandchildren; as well as four sisters, Vera Colvin and Rosemary Colvin, both of Richmond, and Carlene Hubby and Janet Marley, both of Dalton.
He was pre-deceased by three sisters, Evelyn Boyer, Shirley Coughlin, and Roberta Salvatore.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Bruce Melvin Colvin will be private with burial to be in South Cemetery in Peru. There are no calling hours.
