Carol J. Hibbard
1925 - 2014 PITTSFIELD Carol J. Hibbard, 88, of Plunkett St., passed away Friday at Mt. Carmel Care Center in Lenox, surrounded by her family. Carol was born Oct. 24, 1925 in Pittsfield, the daughter of George and Florence Bangs Roger. She graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1943. Carol was employed as a receptionist and billing agent for Dr. Thomas Norton until her retirement in 1985. Previously, she had worked at General Electric as a winder. She loved being an active member of the Berkshire Chapter of Sweet Adelines, with whom she performed for 23 years. Carol was a lifelong member of Pilgrim Memorial Church, where she served as a deaconess, treasurer, and Sunday school teacher. Her husband, John H. Hibbard Jr., whom she married Jan. 2, 1944, passed away March 2, 1999. Carol is survived by her daughters, Linda St. John, and her husband, Donald, of Jefferson, and Jude Forrest of Pittsfield, grandchildren, Justin St. John, Krysten (St. John) Seelye and her husband, Douglas, Debra Forrest, Alan Forrest and great-grandchildren, Xylia and Perrin Seelye. She was predeceased by her sisters, Frances Daly and Myrtle Pippa. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mrs. Carol J. Hibbard will be held Monday at 4 p.m. at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. Quinten Chin, officiating. Calling hours will be Sunday, today, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. Graveside services will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery.
