1923--2012 PITTSFIELD Cecilia Louise (Wojtaszek) Mastalerz, 89, of 115 Ridgeway Avenue, Pittsfield, died Saturday, December 22, 2012, after a short stay at the Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility.

She was born in Adams on November 15, 1923 to Henry and Sophia (Flaga) Wojtaszek. She was a 1941 graduate of Adams High School and enjoyed attending every class reunion. Sprague Electric and General Electric employed Mrs. Mastalerz until 1959, when she left to become a homemaker. She returned to General Electric, after her children were grown, until she retired in 1990.

She was a communicant of St . Joseph's Catholic Church and a past president of the Holy Family Rosary Society. She will always be remembered for her zest for life and devout love for her family. Her life was characterized by her generosity, her smile, and her pride in her family. There was no slowing her down! Her courage and strong resolve to battle breast cancer with surgery, chemotherapy and radiation was no less than heroic, and an example for us all.

Her husband of 49 years, Matthew F. Mastalerz, whom she married on October 26, 1957, pre-deceased her on March 31, 2007.

She leaves a son, Matthew Alan Mastalerz and his wife, Amy, of Providence, R.I.; two daughters, Mary Louise Dolan and her husband, David, of Jacksonville Beach, Fla. and Cecilia Ann Mastalerz of Manchester, N.H.; and a granddaughter, Marilyn Grace Dolan. She also leaves a brother-in-law, Edward Mastalerz of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; as well as several nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Dec. 28, at 8 a.m. from the DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St. Pittsfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, celebrated by Msgr. Michael Shershanovich, Pastor.

Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams.

Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dwyer Funeral Home.
