Donald A. (Don) Chase Sr.

1928 - 2012 NEW MARLBOROUGH Donald A. Chase Sr., 84, of Mill River Great Barrington Road died Sunday, Oct. 21st, at Radius Specialty Hospital in Boston following a long illness.

He was born in Northampton, Mass., on June 3, 1928, son of Frederick and Marguerite Chase. He was educated in Northampton schools, graduated from Northampton High School and served his country as a member of the Army National Guard.

Don first worked as a photographer for the Northampton Gazette. He was then employed for 41 years by the Massachusetts Electric Company in both Great Barrington as a meter technician and Northampton as a supervisor. He retired in 1990 and moved to Bradenton, Fla., until returning to Massachusetts in 2010.

He served as a member of the North Egremont Volunteer Fire Department, the Mason's Cinncinnatus Lodge and the SAHIB Shrine in Sarasota, Fla. Don enjoyed outboard boat racing, a hobby he shared with his father, archery, photography and bowling. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and performing volunteer work for the Shriners organization.

He leaves his wife of 52 years, Linda Gibbs Chase, whom he married on Oct. 17, 1960, his daughter, Tracy Bordonaro and her husband Steve of Torrington, Conn.; his sons, Donald A. (Bud) Chase Jr. and his wife Lora of Calgary, Canada, and Rick Chase and his wife Tina of New Marlborough; his grandchildren, Shane Bordonaro and his wife Maria, Jen Bordonaro, Nate, Kendall, Grant and Connor Chase.
