Dr. Donald A. "Doc" Romeo

Dr. Donald A. "Doc" Romeo, 78, an accomplished humanitarian and mentor passed away in his Ft. Lauderdale home on November 23, 2012 after a heroic battle with leukemia.

Don was born in North Adams, attended Drury High School, St. Anselm's College, graduated from the University of Maryland in 1962 with a degree in DDS. His residency was at New York's Kings County Hospital from 1962 to 1963. He went on to Boston University School of Dentistry in 1964. Don began his private practice in Norwood, Mass., in 1965 and continued for the next 40 years until retirement. His hobbies included flying, gardening, cooking, photography and boating in which he excelled in them all. Don served on numerous boards and was an active member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery of Massachusetts, Flying Dentist Association and Quiet Birdman. Don is survived by his loving wife, Caryl; his son, William Romeo and his wife Jean of Sudbury, Mass.; his daughter, Jill DiTommaso and her husband Alain of East Sandwich, Mass.; his grandchildren, Jenna, Casey, Chloe and Sydney; numerous nieces and nephews. We all love you and you will be truly missed.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, November 30th at Our Lady of the Cape, 468 Stony Brook Road, Brewster, MA. Interment to follow at Quivet Creek Cemetery, East Dennis, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445.
