Elwin Stokes

Elwin Keith "Al" Stokes

1940-2012 Mr. Elwin Keith "Al" Stokes, 72 of 45 Spring St. North Adams, and formerly of 70 North Hoosac Rd. Williamstown died Wednesday January 2, 2013 at his home.

He was born in New Lebanon, N.Y., on July 29, 1940, son of the late Waylan and Janice (Smith) Stokes. He graduated from Williamstown High School with the class of 1958. Al served in the Mass. Army National Guard for several years.

He was last employed by Countryside Landscaping until his retirement. Before that, he worked at LaValley Oil for many years. Al enjoyed the outdoors and watching the Boston Celtics.

Survivors include one daughter, Karen Tatro of North Adams, one son, David Stokes, and his wife, Brenda of North Adams, two grandchildren, Allissa Tatro of Framingham and Travis Tatro of North Adams.

He also leaves one brother- Loren Stokes of East Berlin, Pa., and nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

A brother, Thomas Stokes, and a sister, Cynthia Stokes are deceased.
