Eugene H. Frenier
1921-2013 PITTSFIELD Eugene H. Frenier, Sr., 91, of 106 Imperial Avenue in Pittsfield died Friday at home.
Born on August 20, 1921 in Northampton, MA he was a son of the late Eli and Evelyn DeGrandpre Frenier. A longtime resident of Pittsfield, he was educated in Pittsfield schools and served his country during World War II
with the United States Army with the 759th Light Tank Battalion.
He was employed by the City of Pittsfield as a firefighter
for fourteen years from 1952 until his retirement in 1964. He had also worked at General Electric at one time. Mr. Frenier was a communicant of St. Agnes Church in Dalton and a member of the Pittsfield American Legion.
He enjoyed woodworking, working in his yard and writing poetry about his children and his dogs. He also enjoyed traveling and had traveled to Italy many times.
He leaves his wife; the former Concettina Crea of Pittsfield whom he married on November 28, 1946 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. A son; Eugene H. "Chick" Frenier Jr. and Lori Griffin whom he considered his daughter both of Pittsfield. A grandson; Jamie Frenier and his wife Jodie of Arizona and a great granddaughter; Sydney Jade Frenier. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by twin sons; Paul Frenier who died October 10, 1987 and Peter Frenier who died March 22, 2009. He was also predeceased by three brothers and four sisters.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Eugene H. Frenier, Sr., 91, of Pittsfield who died July 26, 2013 will be held Wednesday at 9:30 AM from the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in Dalton followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Agnes Church celebrated by the Rev. Christopher Malatesta, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Pittsfield. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM prior to the service at the Dery-Foley Funeral Home in Dalton. Memorial donations in memory of Mr. Frenier may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 890 Main St. Dalton, MA 01226.
