1919 - 2012 NORTH ADAMS Evelyn F. (Kleiner) Ciempa, 93, of 215 Houghton St., North Adams, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Sweetbrook Care Center.

Born in Adams on April 6, 1919, daughter of Emil and Sarah (Sprague) Kleiner, she attended Adams and North Adams schools and graduated from Drury High School. Evelyn first worked at the Berkshire Mill. She was last employed by Sprague Electric for 29 years until her retirement in 1981. She was a member of IUE #200 Retirees and the Sprague Quarter Century Club. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. Evelyn enjoyed dancing and was a member of the Berkshire County Line Dancers. In her younger years, she was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. She enjoyed Bingo, fishing, travel, and gardening. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her husband was Joseph D. Ciempa, Sr., who died March 29, 1996. They were married Aug. 23, 1935.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Ciempa and David Ciempa of North Adams; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters, Marguerite Cross of Adams and Lily Kuzia of Clarksburg; one brother, Reginald Kleiner of Worcester; and nieces and nephews.

One daughter and three sons are deceased, Darla Ciempa, Joseph D. Ciempa Jr., Gerald Ciempa and Donald Ciempa. Three sisters and three brothers are deceased, Ethel Brown, Rachel Ashton, Ruth Syrus and George, Ralph, and Robert Kleiner.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The services for Evelyn Ciempa will be Wednesday Dec. 12, 2012, at 2 p.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPELS, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. A calling hour will be held Wednesday afternoon from 1-2 p.m.
