Hellen G. Botto

LEE Helen G. Botto passed away, at the age 93, on April 30, 2014, at The Village at Laurel Lake, where she resided since 2009.Helen was the daughter of Angelo and Dora Lue Giganti. She was a native of Lee and graduated from Lee High School in 1939. After attending Pittsfield Secretarial School, she joined the Lee Savings Bank in 1949. She was promoted to Assistant Treasurer in 1979, a position she held until she retired. Everyone who knew Helen knew she was never one to stand still. After she retired, she became Treasurer of the Lee Visiting Nurses Association and then volunteered at the Lee Chamber of Commerce for ten years. She loved people and enjoyed attending cultural events in The Berkshires. She was an avid golfer and a member of the Greenock Country Club, playing golf well into her 80's. She loved traveling, particularly to Europe, where she went quite often with her family. Her husband Bruno, whom she was married to for 60 years, passed away on Aug. 13, 2011. Helen leaves a daughter, Amy L. Moore of Manchester, Mass.; a granddaughter, Brooke L. Moore, and a brother, Cmdr. George M. Giganti of Honolulu, Hawaii. Her sister, Elizabeth A Larrivee, died in 2013. FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours for Helen G. Botto will be on Thursday, May 15, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 3 Main Street, Lee, MA, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Lee. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing may make a donation in Helen's name to Family to Family Project, a program to prevent homelessness for families, in care of the funeral home.
